Thank you for supporting the Brandywine Backyard Barbeque Festival for the benefit of Friends of Scouting. We appreciate the dedicated volunteers who support scouting year-round and at this event. Without volunteers, Scouting would not exist. If you are a volunteer Scout or Scouter, please wear Class B uniform.
To sign up to volunteer or if you have questions about volunteering, please send an email to the Brandywine BBQ or click here.
Octoraro District Pinewood Derby Race
The Octoraro District Semi-Final Pinewood Derby Race will take place at the Brandywine Backyard BBQ in the back parking lot from the main entrance. Test your car against other Cub Scouts in the District and have the opportunity to compete in the Council Grand Championship Races. Attend with your Pack or as an individual. One racer per Pinewood Derby Car. The top 5 Cubs from each Pack Race are eligible to participate in this District race.
The Pinewood Derby is one of the most fun events in Cub Scouts. Scouts get to work with parents and leaders to design, create, and race unpowered, unmanned wooden cars against fellow Cub Scouts. The check-in and inspection begins at noon and the race will start after all racers have checked in or 1pm. Top 5 racers will be eligible to move on to the Councilwide Championship!
To keep the festival safe and fun for everyone, please leave pets, skateboards, bicycles, radios, and roller-blades at home. Thank you for your cooperation!
Visit the Information Booth to ask general questions about the festival or Scouting. If you would like to help out in the Information Booth or if you would like to volunteer during this year’s event, please register at our volunteer signup!
