The
Chester County Council is excited to announce Voice of the Scout (VOS),
the BSA's first nation-wide effort to directly engage our volunteers!
The initiative Voice of the Scout is a system of continuous surveys and
reports that will capture the value our members, parents and volunteers
are associating with Scouting. Through these experiences we can
understand what is driving word-of-mouth referrals to Scouting and
loyalty to our program. The results from these surveys will give the
Chester County Council an idea of what we can do better to support our
members. You may be asking what we need from you to make this happen.
All we need is a current email and for you to give us your honest
feedback. These emails will only be sent out two times a year. If you can help us out by clicking here to enter your current email we can make your voice heard!
Planning Safety into Your Program
Each year when you plan your calendar, there is the tension created between doing new activities for the membership to experience and the need to do traditional program for new members to experience. In the same way, there is the continuing need to teach safety to new members – be they Scouts or adults – and for continuing members to have a refresher.
BSA's Risk Management and Health and Safety have received several inquiries as to whether paintball and laser tag are authorized Scouting activities. Per the Guide to Safe Scouting, “The following activities have been declared unauthorized and restricted by the Boy Scouts of America . . . Pointing any type of firearm (including paintball, dye, or lasers) at any individual is unauthorized.” Click here to read more
