- Friends of Scouting
Families are key to making the 2012 Friends of Scouting
campaign a success!
Annual fundraising campaign that provides Scout families, community organizations and local businesses the opportunity to support Scouting in Chester County. This giving campaign accounts for 16% of the council's annual budget for Scouting programs.
Currently, the cost of delivering Scouting to the youth in Chester County is approximately $195 per member. You know personally what a difference the Scouting programs and camps of the Chester County Council make in the lives of the boys you serve. Please know that all gifts of support are always greatly appreciated.
There are several recognitions available for donors. We offer the beautiful CCC 2012 FOS shoulder patch. This recognition item is only available to FOS contributors who give at least $195.00.
Other recognition levels are $390.00+ to receive a limited edition penknife; $585.00+ also receives a limited edition pen; and $1000.00+ additionally receives the limited edition print, Heritage Trail, by Richard Bollinger which is only available through the Chester County Council!

- Gifts in Kind
Gifts in Kind or "Project sales" are an integral part of our annual Friends of Scouting campaign.
Gifts in Kind help...
| • |
Identify special sources of income |
| • |
Interest new contributors in specific line items of the budget |
| • |
Upgrade existing contributions to new levels of giving |
Listed below are three different types of projects.
| • |
Gifts in Kind: Rather than a cash gift, specific budget items can be provided, such as office supplies (paper, computer supplies, envelopes, etc.) food items for camp (chicken, frozen foods, etc.), and other materials for camp (lumber, paint, etc.). Items contributed are given fair market value and charged to the proper budget account. Note: The item must be a budgeted expense for the current budget year. |
| • |
Donated Services: Rather than a cash gift, a needed service is provided, such as printing, vehicle maintenance, etc. Note: The item must be a budgeted expense for the current budget year. |
| • |
Cash Gifts: Cash that is given to support a specific line item in the current year's budget. A donor may choose a budget item of particular interest to designate the funds such as recognition awards, school night materials, program helps, Eagle Scout award kits, Scoutreach scholarships etc. |
If you or your company / employer would like to underwrite or provide a gift in kind or service, please contact your district executive or Rick Curth at 610-696-2900 x21 or rcurth@bsamail.org for a detailed list of "project sales". You can also obtain a copy of the list by clicking here.
- Founders Circle
The Founders Circle recognizes deferred gifts (or planned giving) designated for council endowment funds. This includes charitable bequests in a will or trust; BSA gift annuities or pooled income gifts; or life insurance or retirement plan designations.
- 1910 Society
Founded in 1910, the Boy Scouts of America honors that special date by presenting the 1910 Society award to donors who make gifts of $25,000 or more to their council endowments. These gifts can be in the form of cash, securities, land, five-year pledges, or other property.
- James E. West Fellowship
The West Fellowship award is presented for gifts of $1,000 and up in cash or marketable securities to a local council endowment fund. Individuals and corporations may make these gifts on behalf of someone else (perhaps to honor an Eagle Scout, a retirement, or special accomplishment or anniversary, or in memory of a special individual.)
James E. West was the first Chief Scout Executive of the Boy Scouts of America, and he served in that position for more than three decades.
